Stairlifts for elderly customers
Most of the stairlifts we fit across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall are for elderly customers who simply want to keep using their own home safely.
We're a independent local team and the majority of our customers are in their 70s, 80s and 90s. Our engineers take the time to explain everything calmly, fit a powered swivel seat where helpful, and make sure both the customer and family feel completely confident before we leave. There's never any pressure to upgrade.
- Free home survey at a time that suits you
- Powered swivel seats and easy-fold options recommended where appropriate
- Same-day installation on most straight stairlifts
- Friendly, patient handover — we don't leave until you've used it yourself
Stairlifts for seniors
Whether you're planning ahead or responding to a recent fall, a stairlift is one of the most reliable ways for seniors to stay independent at home.
Seniors across Plymouth, Saltash, Plympton, Tavistock and Exeter trust us because we explain costs honestly, recommend the simplest lift that solves the problem, and never push extras. Many of our seniors choose a stairlift stairlift to keep cost down without compromising on safety.
- Stairlifts from a fraction of new-price
- All lifts fully warrantied and serviceable for many years
- Optional rental for short-term needs
- Quiet operation — won't disturb the household
Stairlifts for disabled adults and children
We install stairlifts for disabled customers across Plymouth and the South West, including bariatric (heavy-duty) lifts and lifts adapted for wheelchair users transferring from their chair.
Where appropriate we can help families apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant through Plymouth City Council, Cornwall Council or Devon County Council, and most stairlifts qualify for VAT relief when the customer has a long-term illness or disability.
- Bariatric stairlifts with raised weight capacity
- Compatible with wheelchair-to-seat transfer
- VAT-free under HMRC disability rules where eligible
- Help with Disabled Facilities Grant paperwork
Stairlifts for bad knees
If climbing the stairs is painful because of worn knees, a stairlift removes the load on the joint completely — without surgery, medication or moving home.
Many of our customers came to us after months of pain on the stairs, and within a few hours of installation describe it as 'the best decision they've made in years'. A powered swivel seat means you don't even need to twist the knee to get on or off.
- Zero knee strain — the lift carries you fully seated
- Powered swivel seat to remove the twist at the top
- Footrest height adjusted to suit your leg length
- Quick install — usually fitted in a single morning
Stairlifts for arthritis sufferers
Arthritis in the hips, knees, ankles or hands can turn the staircase into a daily ordeal. A stairlift gives the joints a complete rest without giving up your bedroom or bathroom upstairs.
We recommend large paddle-style controls that work easily with arthritic hands, and a softly-padded seat with armrests so you can rest fully through the ride. Every control and seat position is adjusted to your specific joints.
- Paddle-control or remote — no fiddly buttons required
- Soft padded seat with full armrests
- Gentle, smooth start and stop — no jolting
- Suits rheumatoid, osteo and inflammatory arthritis
Stairlifts for balance problems and dizziness
Vertigo, vestibular conditions and general balance problems make stairs genuinely dangerous. A stairlift removes the risk of a fall entirely.
We've fitted stairlifts for customers with Ménière's, BPPV, post-stroke balance loss and general age-related unsteadiness. The seatbelt, armrests and slow ride speed mean you stay perfectly stable throughout, with no head movement triggering an episode.
- Seatbelt and armrests for full support
- Slow, smooth ride — no triggering of dizziness
- Safe both up and down (most falls happen coming down)
- Powered swivel removes the need to turn at the top
Stairlifts after a hip replacement
In the first six to twelve weeks after a hip replacement, your surgeon will normally advise you to avoid bending the hip past 90° and to limit weight-bearing on stairs. A short-term stairlift rental keeps your bedroom and bathroom accessible while you recover.
We rent stairlifts in Plymouth on a flexible monthly basis with no long contract — typical hire is 8–12 weeks, but you can keep it as long as your recovery needs. We handle the install, the removal and everything in between, and all rentals include servicing and breakdown cover.
- Flexible monthly rental — no long contract
- Typically fitted within 5–10 working days
- Hire includes service and breakdown cover
- We remove the lift when you no longer need it
Stairlifts after a knee replacement
After a total or partial knee replacement, stairs are usually the hardest part of recovery. A short-term stairlift rental protects the new joint and lets you focus on physio.
Many of our knee-replacement customers rent for 10–16 weeks then either return the lift, extend the rental, or convert it into a purchase. We can also fit a lift before your surgery so it's waiting for you when you come home.
- Fit-before-surgery option so the lift is ready
- Protects the new joint while it heals
- Easy to extend month-by-month if recovery is slower
- Buy-out option — rental fees deducted from purchase
Stairlifts for general mobility problems
If a walking frame, walking stick or weak legs have made the staircase the hardest part of your day, a stairlift restores full access to your home in a single morning.
We supply straight and curved stairlifts to suit any staircase, and our engineers will assess your specific gait, balance and grip during the free home survey to recommend the right model, seat and control type.
- Suits walking-frame and walking-stick users
- Folds flat to keep the stairs walkable for others
- Hinged rail option where the rail meets a doorway
- Compatible with most curved and split-level staircases
Stairlifts for Parkinson's disease
Parkinson's can affect balance, grip strength, freezing and fatigue — all of which make stairs increasingly risky. A stairlift removes the danger and reserves your energy for the things you actually want to do.
We've fitted stairlifts for many Parkinson's customers across Plymouth and Devon. We recommend a paddle control (easier for tremor), a full harness-style seatbelt where helpful, and a remote so a carer or partner can call the lift from the other floor.
- Paddle controls that work with tremor
- Optional full harness-style seatbelt
- Remote calls from upstairs or downstairs
- Quiet operation reduces sensory overload
