Read about stairliftsAbout Plymouth — and what it means for your stairlift
Plymouth is our home city — we've been fitting and servicing stairlifts here for over 40 years. From Edwardian terraces in Mutley and Peverell to post-war semis in Eggbuckland and modern flats on the Hoe, we know every stair shape this city has to offer.
Plymouth has a huge mix of housing — Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Mutley, Peverell and Stoke; 1930s semis in Hartley, Mannamead and Compton; 1960s estates in Eggbuckland and Estover; and modern apartments on the Hoe and around Royal William Yard. Narrow staircases and tight 90° landings are common, which is why most jobs in the city call for a slim straight rail or a tailored curved track.
We've been supplying stairlifts across Plymouth and the surrounding villages for decades. We know which streets have the steeper gradients, which estates have the wider hallways, and which property types benefit from a slim profile, a powered swivel seat, or a hinged park-rail at the bottom of the stairs.

Why Plymouth residents choose a stairlift
Recovering after hospital
A short-term rental lift bridges the recovery weeks after hip, knee or back surgery, then we remove it cleanly when you no longer need it.
Staying in the family home
Most Plymouth customers tell us the same thing — they have no intention of moving. A stairlift lets you stay in the home you built your life in.
Helping elderly parents
We regularly work with adult children calling from elsewhere in the UK to arrange a lift for a parent in Plymouth. We liaise fully with both sides.
Managing tricky staircases
Many older Plymouth properties have tight quarter-turns or narrow runs. We choose a slim model, powered swivel seat or hinged park-rail to suit the staircase.
Whichever situation describes you best, our advice is the same — book a free home survey, get an honest written quotation, then take your time deciding. There is never any pressure to move forward on the day. If you'd like a feel for prices first, our 2026 stairlift cost guide shows realistic figures for every type of lift, and our rent vs buy guide is the clearest way to decide between hire and purchase.

A recent Plymouth install
A genuine recent example from PL1–PL9. Every Plymouth job is different — but the standards we apply, the engineers who attend and the warranty you receive are identical.

- Curved stairlift with hinged park-rail
Challenge
Mrs H lives in a 1920s mid-terrace with a 90° turn at the top and a doorway at the foot of the stairs that needed to stay clear.
Solution
We measured on a Tuesday, manufactured the twin curved rail off-site and fitted a hinged park-rail so the doorway stays unobstructed when the lift is parked at the bottom.
Outcome
Installed within 13 working days. Mrs H is back upstairs on her own and the hallway is fully usable again.
