Comparisons
Side-by-side comparisons of the most common stairlift choices, including straight vs curved and rent vs buy.
Straight vs Curved Stairlifts
A straight stairlift fits stairs that run in a single straight line; a curved stairlift is made-to-measure for any staircase with a bend, half-landing or split level. Straight lifts are 1–2 weeks faster to install and roughly half the cost. If your stairs turn at any point, you need a curved rail — no exceptions.
Read guideRent or Buy a Stairlift?
Rent a stairlift if you only need it for 3–18 months — after surgery, while recovering, or while caring for a relative short-term. Buy a stairlift if you'll use it for two years or more, want the latest model, or are considering a curved rail. Rental is typically only available for straight stairlifts.
